High-Interaction

Group Work

THE PURPOSE:

Build cohesion & high performance

If your goals for a group or team (typically 2–20 people) go beyond training and call for meaningful interaction to work on something specific together, here are five excellent options — each with its own unique purpose.  I’ll help you find the ideal customized solution to match your exact goals!

The 5 Group Solutions Involving High-Interaction

Coaching strategies are used to support group participants to advance their own unique goals, aiming to benefit from the shared learning environment.  Goals may or may not share a theme, such as leadership development or applying a key concept, value or directive from the organization or as a follow-up session to a recent training.

1) GROUP COACHING

Uses a co-creative and reflective process with an intact team to inspire them to maximize their collective abilities and potentialAims to work within the team dynamics to build trust, align, and reach their common purpose and goals - as well as to create a working process for the team leader and team to continue post-coaching.

2) TEAM COACHING

Directs meaningful and productive dialogue to increase clarity and effectivenessIt can focus on clarity around the group or team's purpose and other strategic elements (e.g., values, mission, goals, etc.), individual roles/responsibilities, structures and processes, norms for communication, and making clear “agreements” on how to work more productively, etc.

3) FACILITATION

Aims to enhance team member relationships, increase overall team cohesiveness, and build a solid foundation for ongoing collaboration and productivity for intact teams that intend to continue working together. Creating meaningful interactions builds the trust to better share and learn — ultimately achieving better results.

4) TEAM BUILDING

Applies the most effective conflict-resolution strategies to help participants turn down the heat of strong emotion and discord, understand each other, converse more clearly and respectfully, and arrive at a place of productively moving forward in a way that feels acceptable and satisfying to all parties involved.

5) MEDIATION

During sessions, I adapt to use the solutions you need in real time  - so I have you covered no matter what!

TO TRAIN - OR NOT TO  train?

THAT'S THE BIG QUESTION!

Understanding the core focus of a creating a training event:

Training - as a stand-alone development solution - focuses on introducing new concepts and skills (and ideally applying/practicing those new concepts and skills), but it does NOT tend to involve a lot of group-work or address any relationship dynamics, relationship enhancement, or relationship needs that exist within the participant audience.

When stand-alone training is NOT the best fit for you:

If a big issue you are trying to address is a relational opportunity or problem, that's when getting groups/teams together for the purpose of focused interaction to address that opportunity/problem IS what's helpful - under the guidance of a development expert.

A hybrid mix of a training and high-interaction group work can be a powerful solution:

We can weave any training concepts you’d like into our program design.  As the group work unfolds, I'll also introduce timely, relevant educational interventions to enhance learning, support real-time application, and keep the group moving forward.
